Today was a slow day for the salon. Tom was busy with his massage clients for several hours but there was not much business for nails. I guess because summer is coming to an end. Tom and I have been working and living together for 20 some years. We have 2 beautiful daughters who now reside in San Diego (we like to think they moved solely for the weather!) Many people question how Tom and I have survived over the years with living and working so closely together and well…we didn’t, we can’t stand each other! Just kidding, just kidding. Ok so the real secret to a happy life with your husband….cook. They say a way to a man’s heart is through his stomach right? Well that has never failed me. I was born and raised in Vietnam and I grew up learning how to cook traditional family recipes like pho (beef noodle soup) and Vietnamese bbq pork skewers and to this day after 31 years of marriage Tom still can’t resist my cooking! Or so he says. Cooking has always been a hobby of mine and an ice breaker for certain predicaments at times!
In all seriousness, patience, love and more patience was what it took to understand each other well enough to work side by side and live together for all these years.
